Hilltop was founded in April of 1996 when Andrew Selkirk and Joseph Yang signed the lease for the house. Thus time dawned on September 1, 1996. The place was dubbed "Hilltop" due to the lump of earth that the house is on, raising it about 1.5m above the surrounding area. Why the extra dirt you ask? Well . . . no one really knows . . .it just adds to the character of the house. |
Time ended in October 2002, as the landlord in the midst of much needed repairs hired a cheap contractor (think lowest bidder) who poisoned the house. Current residents fled to other lodgings to avoid death by toxic fumes, to a place dubbed Detox. |
In January 2003, new people, some who happened to be friends with former Hilltopians, moved in to the house. They have been warned of the landlord and the toxicity, but have insisted on staying because of its proximity to campus. We pray they will not go through the same problems with the landlord. |
Well here we are! All dressed up and ready to paint the town (or Hilltop) red! |
There are some out there that, although have never lived at Hilltop, hold a special place in our hearts. These we grant the designation: Honourary Hilltopian. The original criteria was to spend the night here. This is now obsolete as Hilltop has been improved so much that this was not as daunting a trial as it originally was! It was noticed that shortly after the dawn of time that some Hilltopians had made close friends with women and eventually even married some of them! Thus the entry standards needed to be adjusted again. The standards were changed so that wives/fianceés/girlfriends were admitted as Honourary Hilltopians, although girlfriends can be subject to loosing that honour if the situation changes. A revision has been made to allow children of Hilltopians to be automatically considered Honourary Hilltopians. At least one parent must be Hilltopian and the status is only passed down one generation. On May 1, 2000 the unthinkable happened at Hilltop. Jennifer K. Lee move into Hilltop and became the first, and still only, female Hilltopian. This event caused waves of confusion in the Force as questions flourished. "Is she an Honourary Hilltopian?" "Can females become Hilltopian?" "How does this affect the rules of becoming an Honourary Hilltopian?" As these questions were pondered the root of the matter came out: "What IS a Hilltopian?" From various discussions the following decisions have been made:
Now here they are in order of achieving the honour of Honourary Hilltopian: |
